Pssst!

Just to let you know that Leighton Jones of The Injuns will be returning to Ord Ban, this Friday evening, the 23rd of July for some more intoxicatingly wonderful piano playing.

Do come along, 'tis wonderful.
Oh and he'll also be playing along at the Old Bridge Inn on Saturday evening.

If you go down to the woods....again

The Insider returns in 2010, kicking off on the 17th June with a Festival of Firewood - a free public day organised in conjunction with the Cairngorms National Park promoting renewable resources and woodcraft - then continues from the 18th to the 20th with the festival proper.

We feel it is our duty to once again dish up the most talented of home grown musicians and serve them alongside the finest food in the valley, with whisky galore, welly-wanging, spit-roasts and bonfires, pimms on the lawn, cake-fights, lasers in the woods, ping-pong and sing songs the whole night long.

But we won’t stop there... we are also throwing in river adventures, workshops, storytelling; a whole new stage, a slew of incredible new bands, yurts-galore and a heavy dash of Insider magic…

Set in the gardens and grounds of the Inshriach estate, with a backdrop to the Cairngorm Mountains the Insider promises to be a truely bohemian highland garden party adventure

The sun will shine again, folk will swim in the Spey (quite against the instructions of our health and safety division!) and bonfires and impromptu woodland piano jams will light up the night.

ord ban is two

Thanks to all for another great year! We're hoping you can join us this weekend, 29th, 30th and 31st of January to aid us in celebration of our second birthday... it's going to be enormous fun!
On Friday and Saturday nights we are to host an evening of feasting and song with a six course tasting menu, some of our favourite dishes from the past few months, accompanied by some great live acoustic music. On Friday night we'll be joined by Calum Wood and Jack Sandison with their guitars and great lungs. On Saturday we're delighted to welcome back Ally Caplin and his magical fiddle.
On Sunday the 31st we're going to spit roast a great hogget from Glebe Farm, light the fires, mull the wine and dance about to the brilliant Horndog Brass Band. These guys are incredible and will prove to be a pretty lively lunchtime busk, from 1pm til 3pm. Can't wait!
Do make it down, it's going to be a great weekend!
We've also decided that it's about time we open up like a proper restaurant so from the 19th of March we'll be open each day and each night apart from Sunday where we're hoping to get our Cinema's License and show some really good art house films...cheese board, candle light, bottle of wine...nice.
Insider 2010 is coming along nicely, we're aiming for the 18th, 19th and 20th of June, again on Inshriach Estate. More news to come x

We had three magical evenings filled with good friends and incredible musicians.
John Langan, Ally Caplin and a girl called Gwennie.. thank you!
We look forward now very much to welcoming them back and are busy planning our 2nd birthday celebrations.
Happy New Year folks, may it be filled with wonder.
Love Ord ban x

snow and loads of it!

Well, the snow has truly arrived!

Following the most magical of Christmas's we've been plunged into this icicle festooned wonderland... New Year is just around the corner and it's going to be a cracker.
We've set up "under the awning" once again with our good friend, ex-head chef, best man and head of great new private dining company One Pot Borrowed, Big Al Heaney.
He has a wonderful array of winter warming stews, soup, roast chestnuts and mulled cider, each day in front of the restaurant til the 11th of January.

Hogmanay will see the return of our ever popular Hogget Roast, cooked over the coals out front of the restaurant from around 2pm til its all gone! Wrap up warm and enjoy a fireside chat with some mulled cider...
Our Hogmanay supper club is fully booked now but we still have space on the 1st and 2nd where we'll be joined by some great local musicians for a couple of really special evenings.
No doubt onwards to a beautiful burns night and 2nd birthday party.. it'll be good times and we do hope you can join us, more details to follow.
We will have a wee break from the 14th til the 21st of January but wish you a great Hogmanay party and all the very best for this coming year.

Tis the season to be jolly!

New Year will see the return of the Ord Ban Supper Club; three evenings of feasting and music on the 31st/ 1st & 2nd January.
We are presenting a 6 course taster menu intermingled with a handful of local musicians. Each evening will begin at 6pm/ 6.30pm as we welcome our guests with aperitif and canapes, followed with a selection of our favorite and most popular dishes through the season. The dishes are small portions to allow you to enjoy each one and throughout the evening acoustic music will pop up hear and there so we can relax, chat by the fire and appreciate the occasion of each night.
We expect each evening to run until 10.30pm/ 11pm and would recommend moving up to the Old Bridge Inn to join in the party afterwards.
The price will be £50 per person.

Over the festive period we will be open each day except Christmas day and open for supper on the 26th and 27th of December.
We will also be stepping out front of the restaurant once again with roast chestnuts, mulled cider and hot stew to warm you up.
We look forward to welcoming you over the festivities.
